Bowl season is in full swing and the trophies are being handed out all over the place. This time of year is a barrage of football that most can not get a grasp on. One thing that anyone can hold onto is a trophy and while watching these games, there were a few trophies that really caught my eye and there are a few to look forward to still to be handed out. Let’s take a look at the top 10 designed trophies for 2023:

10. VRBO Fiesta Bowl

Lot going on in this trophy. I love a multiple decker trophy and the players holding it up on the bottom level is an amazing touch. The top football detaches setting up a picture perfect ending for the winning team. Wish there was a bit more color, maybe a bit more to do with Mexico or something. That could just be my heart saying it should be the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, but Vrbo had to ruin it. Clean, crisp trophy, good start at number 10.

9. Orange Bowl

I’m a sucker for trophies with bowls holding something inside them. On the other side, there’s not too much to this trophy, but the ability to eat whatever is inside makes the celebration that much better. The oranges pop, making the trophy pop.

8. Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

Here we are again with a trophy holding something inside. Potatoes are a bit more unique than oranges seeing as there is also a citrus bowl with oranges inside. Originality wins in this one, giving the edge to the starch.

7. Radiance Technology Independence Bowl

This one screams America. The eagle, the 13 original colonies flag, the double layer, it’s huge. The Fleur de lis puts this one over the top.  I love a trophy that the whole team can get a hand on, makes the celebration that much more joyous. Fantastic trophy for an OK bowl game.

6. Sugar Bowl

I like this one because it’s a simple classic. Reminds me of the Open Championship trophy in golf–pure class. The handles are excellent and the base as the superdome gives it that homey feel for those from New Orleans. Probably could’ve gone a little higher if it had something to do with sugar but it doesn’t, so it stays at 6.

5. EasyPost Hawaii Bowl

This one comes down to one thing: the pineapple football. Unreal ingenuity, makes me want to drink 20 pina coladas while watching Hawaii play Navy. Trophy is basic besides the football, but the football does enough.

4. AutoZone Liberty Bowl

The Liberty Bell on a trophy, I’m in. I do not know if the bell rings or not, but that would be an outstanding touch. I’m from Pennsylvania, lived in Philly for 2 years, this one hits close to home. It’s a trophy the whole team can hold, it’s heavy, and looks clean—that’s why this trophy cracks the top 3.

3. Gasparilla Bowl

A treasure chest as a trophy?? That is outstanding design, sticking with the pirate theme of Tampa Bay that they are so well known for. They should put some money inside as part of some NIL deal workaround for the players, but sadly the NCAA sucks. Craftsmanship could be a bit better on the chest but the thought behind it is enough to put it in the top 3 for me.

2. Pop Tarts Bowl

This one will throw anyone back into their childhood. Actual Pop Tarts in the trophy is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. Probably could’ve made the trophy a toaster, but someone would probably get electrocuted, and that would be the end of the Pop Tarts Bowl. I wanted to put this number 1 so badly, but there was a trophy that really stole the show for me.

  1. Isleta New Mexico Bowl

This trophy wowed me from the start. It looks hand crafted as if someone sat at one of those pottery wheels and made it. Then comes the painting, each one hand painted representing that year’s teams in the bowl game. The fact that they change it every year to show the teams in the game makes it an amazing trophy. Also, it could technically hold something, might want to think about putting in those chiles that New Mexico is known for.

The colors pop on this one and it goes so outside of the box for a trophy that it had to be number one. There’s no real comparison.
